We are a family from Epping who are all enthusiastic foodies. This journey started about 8 years ago with the purchase of Hennypenny and Mrs Peck, two Black Rock hens. Hennypenny and Peck gave us a perfect supply of eggs for a number of years. Unfortunately Hennypenny is no longer with us, but you can see Mrs Peck here enjoying a happy retirement in The Back Garden
The next to join us were Eddie and Lucy. You can see Eddie here. To repeated requests of "Can we have a dog?", we finally responded by saying "No, but you can have goats".
"YES, YES, YES!"
....and so Eddie and Lucy joined The Back Garden. They are pygmy brother and sister and are purely pets, but they are the most mischevious of animals. We really should have bought a dog.
Finally Sid (pictured) and Sophie joined The Back Garden after much hesitation on our part about the noise of the "cock-a-doodledoos". They are Silkies and are the beginning of our Silkie flock. We are in the process of adding to them to build out the flock. This flock will supply The Back Garden Silkie chicks in 2010.
